Initialization and setup

Usage · 13 steps · No ratings yet

13 steps
  1. Open the main door

Open the front door of the printer.
  2. Install the handle on the top cover

Screw the highlighted handle onto the top cover so you can lift the cover easily.
  3. Open the top cover.

Remove the screws and lift the top cover away momentarily
  4. Check the LCD screen

Make sure the 2K LCD screen and the platform are clean and free of dust (see the photo).
  5. Plug the power

Plug in the power and turn on the power switch.
  6. Home the Z axis

On the touch screen, tap TOOLS > MOVE Z > HOME. Wait while the Z axis moves down: it stops by itself at the home position.
  7. Loosen the platform screws

Use an Allen key to loosen the highlighted platform screw (do not remove it), so the build plate can settle flat on the screen during levelling.
  8. Lower the platform

Lay a sheet of A4 paper on the LCD screen, then fit the platform onto its bracket. If there is not enough room, raise the Z axis by 0.1 mm or 1 mm on the touch screen until the platform fits.
  9. Tighten the red platform fixed knob on the top.

Tighten the red knob on top of the platform bracket to hold the platform in place.
  10. Double check

On the touch screen, move the Z axis up and down in small steps until you feel slight resistance when you pull the paper: the gap between the LCD screen and the platform should be about the thickness of a sheet of paper. Then, pressing the platform down gently, tighten the platform screw you loosened in step 7.
  11. Adjust Z-height

Save this height as the first-layer position: tap TOOLS > Z=0 on the touch screen, then OK in the pop-up (see the photo). Levelling is now finished.
  12. Function test of UV-LCD

Raise the platform about 120 mm, then tap TOOLS > DETECTION > NEXT. The LCD screen should show a complete rectangle (see the photos). If it does not, the UV light or the screen may be faulty: contact Anycubic support.
  13. Re-install resin vat

Make sure the resin vat is nice and clean, then install the resin vat so that it
aligns with the two limit-screws on the panel

Adding resin and starting print

Usage · 9 steps · No ratings yet

9 steps
  1. Insert USB stick

Insert the USB memory (or the SD card with card reader) into the USB
    port.
  2. Open the printer door

Open the front door to reach the resin vat.
  3. Pour resin

Wear mask and gloves, slowly pour the resin into the vat until
it reaches 1/3 volume of the vat. After that, close the door.
  4. Select the 3D file

Take off your gloves, then on the touch screen select the "PHOTON.photon" test file or your own sliced file (see the photo) and start printing.
  5. While it prints

Keep the printer on a flat, stable surface out of direct sunlight, and do not move or shake it while it prints.
  6. If insufficient resin

If the resin may run out before the print finishes (or you want to change colour), press "Pause": the platform rises. Slowly pour in more resin (or swap it), then press "Start" to resume (see the photo).
  7. Removing the model

After printing, waiting until the resin stop dropping from the platform
and then unscrew and remove the platform.
  8. Take out the model

Wearing gloves, carefully lift the model off the platform with the scraper (see the photo). Wash it in 95% ethanol, then post-cure it in direct sunlight or a UV curing box so it reaches full hardness.
  9. In case of incomplete curing

After a failed or incomplete print, cured bits of resin can be left in the vat. Pour the resin through a filter funnel into a sealed container, then clear the vat and the platform with a paper towel or plastic scraper. Before every print, make sure no solid residue is left in the vat or on the platform: it can crack the LCD screen during printing or levelling.

Replacing the Z-axis motor

Maintenance · 12 steps · No ratings yet

12 steps
  1. Turn off the power

Terminate any existing print jobs using the LCD display, then turn off the power using the power switch. Unplug the power cable before opening the printer.
  2. Remove the back cover screws

Remove the highlighted screws that hold the back cover. Keep them together for reassembly.
  3. Remove the back cover to expose the motor

Lift the back cover away to expose the Z-axis motor and its cable.
  4. Open the main door

Open the front door of the printer.
  5. Remove the top cover

Remove the top cover to reach the top of the Z-axis.
  6. Unscrew motor screws

Unplug the motor cable, then remove the highlighted screws that hold the Z-axis motor to its mount. Support the motor as the last screw comes out.
  7. Remove the old motor

Take the old Z-axis motor out of its mount. Note its orientation and how its cable is routed before you set it aside.
  8. Fit the new motor

Fit the new Z-axis motor in the same position and orientation as the old one, and plug its cable back in.
  9. Screw back the inner screws

Refit the motor screws and tighten them evenly so the motor sits square in its mount.
  10. Place back the top cover

Put the top cover back in place.
  11. Refit the back cover screws

Refit the back cover and fasten it with the screws you removed in step 2.
  12. Close the main door

Close the front door. Power on and run TOOLS > MOVE Z > HOME to check the platform moves smoothly, then level the platform again before printing (see the 'Initialization and setup' procedure).
